What is IEM

  • Industrial Entrepreneur Memorandum (IEM) is an undertaking to acknowledge the commencement of commercial production by filling the IEM application.
  • It is required to manufacture a new article or to take on the business of existing SSI units after graduating into a large-scale industry and to set up a new industrial undertaking.

IEM Part A – Business Establishment

  • Industrial companies exempted from the industrial license, including those currently operating in large quantities, must submit an Industrial Authorization (IEM) in Section A (according to the prescribed format) to the Ministry of Planning Industry and Promotion, India. Get an acknowledgment (confirmation).

IEM Part B – Commencement of Commercial Production.

  • All the industrial undertakings which had recorded IEM Part A are too fundamental to report the commencement of the commercial production. It is filed on-line on the G2B portal by way of filling data as of Part B of the IEM. And Part B need to be filed after the commencement of commercial production by the establishment.

Industries Required IEM

  • The expansive scale industries which has contributed more than Rs. 10 cores in the manufacturing sector and more than Rs. 5 crores in the service sector have to apply for this IEM (Industrial Entrepreneur Memorandum). 
  • For a manufacture, an item which is not only reserved SSI sector, will also have to apply for this IEM.

DPITT G2B Portal

  • The Government of India has launched DPITT (Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade) G2B Portal to create an investor-friendly business environment in India.
  • This platform provides access to a wide range of Government-to-Business (G2B) services for the creation Industrial Entrepreneur Memorandum (IEM) and Industrial Licensing (IL).
  • The portal also allows the user to track the application filing history and previously obtained licenses.
